DAY 8
Fujimoto, The Witch of the Waste, and Yubaba are my favorites as far as antagonists are concerned. I like how Fujimoto is the worrywart father who just can’t seem to let his little girl go. The Witch of the Waste is flamboyant and self-centered, but she’s still a good person. And Yubaba is a hardass witch who’s actually a softy when it comes to her baby.

Least favorite character and why?
Surprisingly I don’t have that many Ghibli films where I find less favor with the characters. I either like them or totally neutral. Well I guess if I had to pick it would be Colonel Muska. I didn’t gain much sympathy for him when he’d been defeated, and somehow I didn’t find much interest in him before that either.

I love the spirited female-types like Ursula, Lin, and Lisa.

Ashitaka, Haku, Howl, Seiji, and Sho are my favorites. When it comes to males it sort of varies.

It would definitely have to be Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Ponyo, and Karigurashi no Arrietty. Sorry, couldn’t really pick one out of this group because they are all pretty much tied. ^^;
collectively it’s because they each share some form of opinion on deep social issues either in Studio Ghibli’s home country Japan or the world....
